Executive Chef Jonathan Macdonald
Michelin-trained and internationally acclaimed, Chef Jonathan Macdonald brings over two decades of culinary excellence to Ocean7 Restaurant and AQUA Bistro & Wine Bar. His illustrious career includes training at some of the world’s most prestigious 3 Michelin star restaurants, such as The Fat Duck with Heston Blumenthal and The Ledbury with Brett Graham in London, and the iconic Noma with Rene Redzepi in Copenhagen, the latter ranked as the best restaurant in the world. With experience across the globe but mainly in London, Australia, and the south of France, Chef Macdonald has mastered a wide array of global cuisines, including Japanese, Thai, French, Italian, Arabic, and Nordic. After years crafting gourmet experiences for an elite clientele aboard emirs, princes and prime ministers’ superyachts, Chef Macdonald now leads the culinary show at Kingfisher, where he will be bringing to his team and to our guests a creative vision and a fresh passion for exceptional dining.
Mixologist | Julie Ferris
Julie Ferris is our all-time favorite bartender with a penchant for “geeking out over cocktails.” While she prefers to avoid the label of Mixologist, we struggle to find a better name to describe her artistic talent. With decades of experience across British Columbia, Julie brings her enthusiasm for handcrafted, innovative drinks to the Kingfisher Restaurants. Julie has refined her craft in some of the region’s most esteemed venues, mastering the art of creating bespoke cocktails from scratch using foraged flowers and her own secret infusions. At Ocean7 Restaurant and AQUA Bistro & Wine Bar, she designs cocktail menus with creative flair, drawing from an extensive selection of prestigious liquors and wines. Her approach combines a keen intuition for guest preferences with fresh, local inspiration to create distinctive flavors. Whether she’s crafting something from her extensive repertoire or inventing a new special on the spot, Julie’s mission is to delight guests with every sip.
